Spribo launches its first beta sites

October 29, 2008

Spribo launched a beta program in September 2008 to test its semantic social web platform and core social software capabilities. As part of the Spribo development roadmap, this platform utilizes a social graph ontology that represents members, profiles, associations and other critical knowledge objects used by its semantic engine. This ontology will expand and enable smarter SaaS social applications in the future.

Spribo developed an "anchor community" strategy that will serve as a proof of concept for its semantic social web platform and its key differentiators. The main objective of the beta program is to test the functionality and scalability of the software platform before the Spribo services are officially launched. Anchor communities represent a mainstream strategy to develop the first online focus groups formed by opinion leaders around specific knowledge domains that conform communities of practice (communities with a specific purpose and measurable results, not only shared interests). Once the Spribo platform is launched supporting web 3.0-based smart applications, these communities will attract new members and grow, representing good examples of how the semantic social web can create a difference.

This initiative is focused on developing use cases that apply the social web vision to bring together people with common interests to voice their ideas, contribute value to their communities, find unique content and applications, and exchange tacit knowledge around specific purposes. Focus group efforts are visualized around domain-specific topics in areas like Education, Environment, Digital Divide, Health Care, Government and Entertainment that could benefit in the future from semantic applications, as they are released by Spribo. The company perceives the use of combined web 2.0 and 3.0 technologies as a great option to develop purpose-driven networks in which all participants collaborate and achieve well-defined deliverables as part of communities of practice that share not only common interests but also knowledge and measurable benefits.
