Web 3.0, also known as
the Semantic Web, aims at the concept of linked data by proposing more
intelligent ways to represent and communicate knowledge and provides a
standard framework to interact with ubiquitous sources of information. Web
3.0 emerging standards can make communications, access to digital media and
digital services simpler to use via knowledge representation and management.
SaaS applications built
on a semantic-oriented platform make web navigation easier, provide better
search and business intelligence capabilities, and support contextual
interaction with users, making services smarter. Online communities can
interact via social software applications that use knowledge modeling,
enabling members to access digital media more effectively and to control
with whom they want to communicate and collaborate based on trusted
relationships. Communities that adopt the Web 3.0 vision can create true virtual
ecosystems in a knowledge society that fosters creativity and economic development.
QoS Labs started its
Semantic research in 2003, looking for ways to simplify SaaS integration
and management and realized through the process its potential for the
Social Web and for the future of the Semantic Web.
