QoS Labs, a leading
company in solutions and services based on standards and best practices
related with Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs), became a member of BPMI
as part of its continuous SOA-related research and development efforts in
order to keep in close contact with the Business Process Management (BPM)
standards community and to promote early adoption of its standards.
BPM is a crucial
component of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) to automate e-Business
and e-Government processes embedded in electronic services over the
Internet. BPMI.org (the Business Process Management Initiative) embraces
existing standards where appropriate, working with complementary standards
bodies such as the OMG, WfMC and OASIS.
QoS Labs decided to
join BPMI due to its focus on contributing a BPM notation standard (BPMN),
understanding other BPM standards and BPM standard landscapes, motivating
cooperation among standardization committees involved with BPM, and
presenting initiatives to fulfill uncovered BPM standardization
requirements. According to BPMI.org, "BPMI focuses on standards development
to support the entire life-cycle of business process management – from
process design, through deployment, execution, maintenance, and
optimization."
BPMI think tank
sessions offer a great opportunity to meet contributors to the BPM industry
and enterprise users, discuss areas of opportunity to extend BPM standards,
discuss how to facilitate open integration with related technologies and
propose ideas and solutions for emerging BPM standards.
QoS Labs’ neutral
service-oriented approach demands standardization of BPM to design and
deploy e-Business processes that can interoperate with Web Services and
semantic standards under the appCarrier
SOA. Web Services choreography and orchestration are heavily oriented
to the evolution of the BPM market (WS-Choreography, BPMN, BPEL) and of
other e-Business standards (i.e. ebXML, UBL).
QoS Labs’ certified
management enabling components comply with BPM standards and other XML /
Web Services enabling components, supporting the appCarrier SOA interoperability for neutral service-oriented
integration and management.
