Semantic SOA Lab

Knowledge representation used to model SaaS environments to integrate and manage services that reuse heterogeneous applications.

- Study of semantic networks standards and technologies to model SaaS virtual environments.

- Use of semantic tools to build turnkey solutions presented via a semantic portal to publish services over the Web.

- Extend QoS Labs’ knowledgebase, adding enterprise business and process domain ontologies (3rd generation).

- Implement 4th SOA reference framework generation, defining additional enabling components, services and SaaS processes.

- Implement 4th semantic portal generation based on third-party semantic engine, JSR-168 portlets and JSR-170 content repository.

- Launch a Portal & Collaboration Solution Set in conjunction with partners.

- Implement DMTF’s CIM model use case to semantically represent SaaS elements.

- Integrate third-party CIM manager with other element managers (i.e., Cisco Manager, VPN, Microsoft MoM, Sun Management Center, HP OpenView, InfoVista, Micromuse).

- Implement open source managers for fault management and SLA and analyze integration options with CIM.

- Implement 3rd SaaS management portal generation, supporting access mechanisms (digital certificates, biometric, MAC address, password, Web Services Security, Web Services Policy); fault monitoring & correlation (networks, servers, applications, transactions, services); helpdesk integration; resource usage accounting; and Service Level Management.

- Implement identity federation using SAML and Liberty standards.

- Implement a use case to test the SaaS framework in a large banking environment involving mission-critical applications running on mainframe, Unix/Java and MS.NET environments under the QoS Labs SOA reference framework.

- Implement virtual e-mail and storage management.

- Implement IT continuity and disaster recovery framework.

- Use cases applied to banking, e-Gov, service providers, education and insurance.

- Use of agile methodologies in SaaS app integration.
